About Us
Owner / Operator Ed Thomas had a 34 year career of running restaurants. This background honed his skills with business management, customer service, people management, and an eye for detail. After leaving that industry Ed decided to start his own business. As a fixer and avid woodworker, Ed has worked on many projects over the years making upgrades to his own homes and others. In November of 2014 Variety Maintenance was formed as a Handyman service. The business grew exponentially with repeat clients and word of mouth. In February of 2019 Ed connected with a new property investor. Since then connections were made with several other investors. Over 200 apartments have been repaired, remodeled, and rented. In addition to the rental property work more than 50 Single Family Homes have been renovated, upgraded, and successfully flipped for considerable profits for the investors. All this in just over 4 years time. The company name was changed in January of 2021 from Variety Maintenance, Inc. to Custom Remodels LLC in order to more accurately reflect the work the company does.
Through these projects Ed has worked to assemble a team of contractors. Painters, Drywallers, Electricians, Plumbers, and Roofers are all part of the team that makes this work happen. Custom Remodels specifically handles all carpentry work, cabinet installs, floor repairs, door and window replacements. Typically Ed handles the scheduling and coordinating of each contractor in order to complete the project in a timely manner. Integrity and honesty is crucial and a core value at Custom Remodels.
